Background

Durgapur is an upazila in Rajshahi district in the northwestern part of Bangladesh. It is located about 30 km north-east of Rajshahi district. Durgapur upazila consists of 06 unions and 1 municipality with an area of 195.03 sq km. Durgapur Upazila is home to about 150,000 people from Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Buddhist and tribal communities. At present Durgapur Thana is located in Durgapur Municipality of Durgapur Upazila. Baghmara and Mohanpur upazilas on the north, Charghat upazila on the south, Punthia upazila on the east and Paba upazila on the west. The position of Durgapur upazila is very good in terms of education. Primary education was completed in 2011. It is the first upazila in Bangladesh. The social context of Durgapur is admirable due to the maintenance of religious and political harmony.
